The Department of Development and Community Outreach is responsible for supervising and providing direct services in support of prevention and intervention efforts throughout the District. Services provided by District nurses, school community liaisons and counselors are all coordinated and managed by our department. We work collaboratively with numerous community organizations and agencies to identify and access community-based resources in support of our children and families. Department staff provide immediate crisis management and support as needed throughout the District. A number of specific grants are managed by the department providing direct services in areas such as:
- Alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention services
- After school, Saturday and summer programs
- Violence prevention and character education programs
- College access and career development programs
- Mentoring programs
