Black History Month

Throughout the month of February, students in the Warren City School District will be celebrating Black History. Students will be learning about civil rights; slavery; and how individuals, especially
children, stood up for what’s right and how unfair laws were changed; and the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and other famous Black Americans. These learning activities will involve reading, creating web sites, displays and other educational experiences.

Some of the public figures who have come to our buildings to talk to the students about Black History are Mayor Franklin, Steve Arnold (WGH football coach), Andre Coleman (BOE member), Bob Faulkner (BOE member), Regina Patterson (BOE member) and many others.

One Response to Black History Month

  1. Looks like an exciting and dynamic way to celebrate and remember Black History Month! Thanks to all of the staff and community members who took the time to share their stories with our kids.
Can’t wait to see the innovative ways that we celebrate and remember Women’s History Month in March!

If we don’t learn from the past…we are doomed to repeat it.
