Scholastic Art Award Winners 2013
Scholastic Art Awards is a competition where students works are entered by their teacher and then judged by grade level and category. Students first compete with other districts in North East Ohio. If they receive a gold key they then move forward. This year 2 Jefferson K-8 students under the instruction of Megan Mussler have competed.
Raionna Talbert a 7th grader won a gold key for her painting titled “All Mixed Up”, and Kimberly Custer an 8th grader won a silver key for her drawing titled “Pasta Puzzle.” Raionna’s work will now compete on the National level in New York City. Honorable mentions go to Lynn Williams, grade 8, Kchina Williams grade 8, Shabria Fisher grade 7 and Jamarion Campbell grade 8. All work will be on display at the Bliss Hall Gallery in Youngstown State University. Students will receive their awards at a ceremony on Saturday January 19th, 2013 in the Ford Theater inside of Bliss Hall.
